60th Anniversary Yamaha YZF-R1 looks stunning, R1M also back for 2016

With its iconic white-black-yellow paintjob, the 2016-spec 60th Anniversary Yamaha R1 looks awesome. We love it!

Unveiled last week, the 60th Anniversary Yamaha YZF-R1 gets the Japanese company’s iconic white-black-yellow paintjob and here, it looks positively stunning. We have to admit, we’re no big fans of the current R1’s styling, but the 60th Anniversary special edition R1, with the paintjob and Akrapovic exhaust you see here, is just so very, very good looking. Brilliant job!

“With its Yamaha M1 MotoGP-derived engine and chassis design, together with game changing electronics, the new R1 makes for the most exhilarating and rewarding supersport riding experience,” claim Yamaha, and we agree. The new R1 will be available at Yamaha dealers from December 2015 onwards. For 2016, other colours available include Race Blu and Racing Red. The Yamaha YZF-R1M, a special edition race and track bike aimed at professional teams and experienced riders, will also be back for 2016. Featuring a range of sophisticated equipment – including Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS), carbonfibre bodywork, and a communication control unit (CCU) – the YZF-R1M enables riders to have access to the most advanced M1-developed MotoGP technology.

Available exclusively via online application, the first production run of the 2015 R1M was sold out shortly after the system went live. In response to the continued strong demand for this high-specification M1-inspired model, Yamaha confirm that the R1M will once again be produced in strictly limited quantities for the 2016 season. Online customer registration opens on October 1st, so get your orders in now!
