Cruising to the Hot Bike Tour: Day 4

The Hot Bike Tour is a total bucket list event. We know it takes a lot to get the five days in a row off of work and move yourself and your bike to wherever the tour is going down that year, but MAN is it worth it. This is the first year riding the tour for myself and our new Editor, John Mcdevitt; and we can tell you first hand that this show is like no other that we have been to.

Today we rode out from Rapid City, SD to Sheridan, WY and man was it gorgeous! After running up to Mount Rushmore in the morning, we rode through the Black Hills for a bit before heading to Deluxe Harley-Davison in Gillette, WY for some lunch. A couple hours later we were checked into the Trail’s End Motel, drinking beers with the owner and getting ready for the night’s festivities. The lady at the front desk of the hotel was an absolute sweetheart and took great care of our crew, while her husband poured some fireball shots for whoever was down. After a moment of relaxing in our rooms, we headed down to do it all again, this time in Downtown Sheridan, and if the people at the motel were any indication, this was going to be one awesome night.

Downtown Sheridan is as charming as the people and everyone seemed glad to have us. Joey Hensley of Backyard Baggers took the win for Baggers Mag vote today, and Scott Kietzmann also took his second night in a row with his wicked Victory. The big winners are announced tomorrow so stay tuned!

Cruising to the Hot Bike Tour: Day 3

Today the flat and infinitely straight roads of Iowa and North Eastern South Dakota started to break as we entered the Black Hills! Last night in Mitchell was awesome! There was a huge turnout at the strangely awesome Corn Palace and everyone had a great time.

Today was our longest day of riding, at about 275 if you went straight for the highways. Not bad at all, especially when you’re cruising at a cool 70 degrees all day. We pulled into Rapid City in groups, all tired but ready for another night of rad custom bikes and good friends.

Unknown, Ind. put on another awesome stunt show. Those guys are insanely talented and always thrilling to watch. Troy Hoff came out second, and scared the pants off of everybody when he looped his bike in a wheelie and slapped down on his back. This dude jumped straight back up and put on one hell of a show for the cheering crowd.

Scott Kietzmann of Conquest Customs took Hot Bike’s win with his custom Victory Sport-Cruiser, and Joey Hensley of Backyard Baggers won the day’s vote for Baggers Mag with his big-wheel 9/11 tribute H-D custom.

If you missed Day One

If you missed Day Two

Stay tuned tomorrow to find out what happened on the road during day four, and Sunday to find out who will win the two awesome Build-Offs!

Cruising to the Hot Bike Tour: Day 2

Today we had the pleasure of rolling with the incredible builders of the Hot Bike Build-Off and the Baggers Build-Off from Spirit Lake, Iowa to Mitchel, SD. Riding with such a unique and eclectic group of bikes is such a great opportunity, and one that many other riders also enjoyed.

We showed up to Klock Werks Kustom Cycles for a BBQ lunch and to celebrate Brian Klock’s birthday with his friends and family. The food was delicious, the bikes were gorgeous, and the people were happy. From there we all rolled to downtown Mitchell, to the Corn Palace. People tend to laugh at the idea of the Corn Palace, but it really is pretty cool to see! John Shope and the guys from Unknown Industries put on a great show pulling wheelies and burnouts on their baggers and Dynas, and the crowd loved every second of it. Kendal Johnson Customs took the voters win for Baggers and Majik Mike Designs took the win for the second night in a row for Hot Bike.

It was another great night of fun, motorcycles, and like-minded individuals! Tomorrow we head out to Rapid City, South Dakota for another awesome night of fun and antics.
